In Canada, if you asked for a 'smokie' you'd probably be given a larger piece of barbecued sausage. It would probably be served on a bun and you'd probably have a choice of mustards, sauerkraut etc to go with. In Scotland asking for a smokie will likely yield one of these; smoked haddock. Served warm and with cool beer....yum.
