The restoration and modernization of the Edmonton Federal Building has been widely criticized and the media has had a pretty good time fanning the flames of controversy by printing itemized cost reports and reminding any one who will listen about scheduling problems and scope creep. As always, there are those who know the price of everything and the value of nothing. Those who buy ink by the barrel have a field day with these kinds of projects.
I've toured the whole building and I think when people see it - particularly the handsome public areas - they'll be impressed. The restored main entrance on the opposite side of the building seen in this view is stunning. In the fullness of time I believe people will take pride in this building and it will become well used and admired part of the Alberta Legislature precinct.
