The people who work in the fabrication shop at this particular site are referred to as craft workers, an all encompassing term that is very descriptive. The cutting, grinding, fitting, welding and finishing of steel shapes like this to meet strict engineering tolerances is an art form like no other. I love the look of the raw steel and the annotations made thereon; when the torch adds its super-heated patina the whole thing takes on a rich and interesting look. Rather a shame to paint it I think.
