The Tower of London

'Why, Sir, you find no man, at all intellectual, who is willing to leave London.  No, Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford.'

- Samuel Johnson

I've been lucky enough to have visited London many times and I never get tired of it.  Sure, it's congested and overrun with tourists but it is still one of - if not they - greatest cities in the world.

The Brits do pomp and circumstance better than anyone - not just occasionally but at many times and places every day.  Even though the Tower of London is visited by thousands of tourists every day it remains Her Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress and is therefore managed and guarded as such.

Striding on ahead of these guards was a Beefeater barking out commands to clear the way.  These guards are not mere props present only so tourists can photograph them.  Those are automatic weapons on their shoulders, baby.  Proof positive that these blokes mean business.
