Most of not all dSLR cameras and some higher priced point and shoot cameras will capture images in RAW format in addition to the standard JPEGs. In the next few days I will present 2 images each day, one the JPEG capture and the other showing the edited RAW file. All photos taken with the Canon G11. Here's the first two. The less vibrant image is in each case the unedited JPEG - just as it came from the camera. RAW Files edited in Adobe Lightroom 3.0.
