Recently I've had a chance to take some non-traditional portraits.  Non-traditional in that they aren't the sort of photos your grandma would have on her mantle....unless you have a very cool grandma.  Here's the first, this is my cousin Cathy.

May be a little cheesy but...

Red Maple leaf floating on the water....hmmm...maybe a little too romantic but here it is anyway.  I promise the leaf was just floating by with no assistance from me.

A little Separation Please

Portrait Photographers use a separation light to make their subject stand out against the background; we landscape photographers usually use depth of field control to achieve a little separation.  Here's an example.
