This black and white photo was the result of several steps; first 5 images were made each at different exposures. They were merged in Oloneo Photo Engine as a colour High Dynamic Range single image. Contrast and brightness were adjusted in Photoshop CS5 and a few blemishes were corrected as well. Then back to Oloneo Photo Engine for the black and white conversion were a tone adjustment was made to give the photo an inky-black finish.

Recent Projects
Last Autumn I was commisioned to photograph the newly opened Strathcona Centre in the Park in Sherwood Park. The Children's Library is within the facility and for a host of reasons there were not many photos taken of it. I returned recently to finish the task; here's a the first of a few shots that I'll present in the next couple of days.

A new Family Member
Here's a rather self indulgent photo; this is our 10 week old Welsh Springer Spaniel, Banjo. Doing a little checking on his ancestors it seems.

Out and about in Toronto
This is a view from the south of the Art Gallery of Ontario. It's a great way to approach the Gallery as it means you get to stroll through Grange Park. If you come from the north you have to do so via Dundas street which is funky but no match for the park.
I used Oloneo Photo Engine to edit this image; it's a little freaky but I was headed for the art gallery and in the mood for something fun.

Out and about in Toronto
There's a lovely little chapel in Grange Park; Here's a detail shot of the entrance. I'd love to know what the storys with regard to that little patch job on the right hand door panel.

Out and about in Toronto
Union Station in Toronto. I really like the final version of this photo - it looks like a pencil rendering.

To Brighten Your Day
Here's the last in this batch of Blackerry photos. I boosted the saturation in Photoshop because the back of the leaf was otherwise quite pale and the dew drops were a little hard to see.

To Brighten Your Day
Another in the Blackberry series. The detail here is quite good considering the lens diameter is only 1mm across....heaven know what the sensor looks like. This photo had a magenta cast to in that I corrected in Photoshop along with some contrast adjustment.

To Brighten Your Day
The Blackberry is a great little tool and the onboard camera can record great images. But the memory capacity isn't that great and from time to time you have to clear out old photos to make room for new ones. That is what I was doing when I came across this photo from last summer; kind of gives one hope that winter will indeed recede - eventually.

A Walk in the Park
This day the cloud patterns were quite spectacular. I like the way that the picture space is laid out in this photo; strong dark bottom edge to give the photo support, uncluttered foreground with well defined trees that had a vertical component and strong horizontal, rythmic aspect of the clouds in the upper part of the frame. I think the fact that the trees don't overlap the clouds strengthens the composition.

A Walk in the Park
I have so many photos taken while out walking the dog that I sometimes wonder why I even take the camera along. How many photos of tree bark and long grass does one really need?
This is a hand held panorama taken with the G11 in Terwillegar park. Composite of 2 photos merged in photoshop and converted to black and white in Nik Silver Efex pro.

Recent Portraits
This is my friend and colleague Suzanne. I've taken a number of portraits of her over the years but she's never really been that happy with them. In fact, she told me that there are no good photos of her around and confidently told me that it was impossilbe to take a good photo of her. So this is her pick from our last shoot.

Holga Black and White
Funny how the in black and white the Holga renders every old scraggly tree as if it were growing in front of some old haunted house.

Holga Black and White
It would hard to take an eerier looking image with any camera, at least that's my view. Looks like I failed to hold the camera steady but I like the photo none the less.

Holga Black and White
There are some clairty issues with this shot but I think it is the better for it. This is right out of the scanner, only size was adjusted to make it suitable for posting here.

Holga Black and White
With a little care the Holga can take reasonably sharp images - at least over part of the frame as evidenced in this photo of a tired looking old planter.
